Committing yourself to healthier eating shouldn’t leave you feeling deprived. It’s just about choosing alternatives that are better for you. Desserts call my name from time to time. Sometimes, I can easily ignore their calls, but there are those moments where playing hard-to-get just isn’t working. So, that’s kind of how I got started turning some favorite desserts into smoothies.

The first thing I consider is what’s in season at the moment. Right now, pears are amazing and sweet. Then I add a base, usually almond milk. I use Silk’s Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk. I love that it’s a plant-based option that is non-GMO, with no sugar, no saturated fats and high in calcium. Next, I consider the flavors and textures in a particular dessert and find spices and grains that will give me that same experience.

This smoothie really does taste like dessert without adding any sweeteners at all. The sweetness comes from the fruit alone. The almond milk and the banana add lots of creaminess that make this feel indulgent.

So, no more playing hard-to-get…you can maintain a healthy diet and still have dessert. That’s how Silk helps me bloom!
